Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits
The SIP32468EVB Evaluation and Demonstration board is designed to offer users convenient means of evaluating and demonstrating the SIP32468 switching voltage regulator. Representing a hybrid combination of traditional interleaved buck and current ratio step-down topologies, the board offers the possibility for users to evaluate the versatile performance and features of the SIP32468 switching voltage regulator.The board provides a user-friendly platform designed to enable users to evaluate various aspects of the SIP32468, including its low-quiescent current, boot-strap start-up, low output voltage variations, and integrated power stage short-circuit protection, among others. Additionally, the board can be used to evaluate and demonstrate the SIP32468 in a wide variety of applications, such as telecom, automotive, automotive systems, industrial, embedded and consumer applications.The typical application of the SIP32468EVB board is that of powering a DC motor, for example by controlling its speed, using a potentiometer and a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal or by connecting the motor to a brushless DC driver. The board also provides other application possibilities, such as the ability to support various power supply applications – AC to DC or DC to DC converters – as well as connection to PoE-based hardware and Ethernet connections, respectively.The working principle of the SIP32468EVB board is based on the SIP32468 switching voltage regulator, which is used to control the output voltage of the board. The switching voltage regulator is capable of providing high-efficiency power conversion from 24Vinput to a 0.6V to 5V output, with a maximum output current of 23A. The regulator is powered by an integrated high-efficiency power stage, which provides two high-side PNP transistors for synchronous rectification. It also features two current-mode integration compensated loop controllers - one for the high-side buck converter, the other for the synchronous rectified low-side buck converter - for improved line/load regulation.Regarding the evaluation of the SIP32468 switching voltage regulator, the board provides a wide array of features and measurements, including constant voltage/frequency, power racing, soft start, automatic pre-bias, short-circuit protection on the power stage, synchronous rectification high-side/low-side MOSFET on-resistance, dead-time programming, peak-current protection, voltage/current loop response, OVP/UVP protection, and pulse-by-pulse current limit. To enable users to evaluate the features of the SIP32468 switching voltage regulator, the board is equipped with a voltage monitoring LED, as well as a three-digit display for viewing the output voltage/current values. Furthermore, the board is provided with a potentiometer for setting the output voltage, a trimmer to adjust the switching frequency, a start/stop switch, and another two switches to select either voltage or current output control.In summary, the SIP32468EVB Evaluation and Demonstration board is a versatile platform which allows users to evaluate and demonstrate the features of the SIP32468 switching voltage regulator.
