Applications of the SK-FM4-216-ETHERNET evaluation board include IoT gateways, home automation, control systems, industrial equipment interfaces, medical systems, and fleet management.
The SK-FM4-216-ETHERNET evaluation board is equipped with the Cortex-M4 Core processor and a range of standard peripherals, including the Ethernet controller, SPI, I2C, USB 2.0, and CAN. The board also features capacitive touch sensing as well as multiplexed serial peripherals and a range of communication peripherals. The board’s on-board memory includes 16 KB of SRAM, and 256 KB of ROM. It also includes a dedicated Network Security Graphing Engine (NSGE) and a dedicated AES encryption engine.

The SK-FM4-216-ETHERNET evaluation board’s working principle is based on the ARM® Cortex®-M4 architecture. The Cortex-M4 processor is optimized for on-chip communications and connectivity, powering the 10/100 Ethernet, SPI, I2C, USB 2.0, CAN, UART, flexible timer units, DMA, capacitive touch sensing, multiplexed serial peripherals, and range of communication peripherals.
The on-board Ethernet controller supports Gigabit Ethernet as well as 10/100 Ethernet data rates. The controller supports Ethernet header and payload parsing and can support IPv4/IPv6 networks. The controller also features a built-in switching table for efficient connection and packet routing.
The SK-FM4-216-ETHERNET evaluation board includes a USB 2.0 host port and an FTDI serial port for programming and serial communications. It also has an on-board power switch and a DC-DC step-down power converter, which allows the board to be powered via USB or an external power supply.
The SK-FM4-216-ETHERNET evaluation board features an on-board NFC (Near Field Communication) reader, which supports up to five different NFC protocols. The NFC controller supports peer-to-peer (P2P) communication, card emulation, data exchange, and card reader/writer modes.
The SK-FM4-216-ETHERNET evaluation board features an on-board Cortex-M4 based Graphing Engine (NSGE) and a dedicated AES encryption engine. The NSGE includes an advanced hardware accelerator for processing network security applications, such as IPSec, while the on-chip AES encryption engine enables fast, secure data encryption/decryption of up to 128-bit encryption.
