The SK18TR is often used in power supply designs for TVs, computer monitors, surround sound systems, DVD players, and other home entertainment systems. The Working PrincipleThe SK18TR rectifier works by having four semiconductor diodes connected in a bridge arrangement. This causes the AC current to be split into two halves, each travelling in opposite directions. As each half of the AC current passes through a different pair of diodes, a DC voltage is produced on the opposite side of the bridge rectifier.This bridge arrangement makes the SK18TR a very efficient rectifier, and allows the diodes to absorb much of the high peak alternating voltage, while producing a smooth and stabilized DC voltage on the output side of the rectifier. This makes them ideal for powering electronic devices, as the DC voltage provided is much more reliable than the high AC voltage.The SK18TR rectifier bridge is a very reliable and efficient way to convert AC power into DC power.
