The SK36A-TP is a type of single rectifier diode, which is a two-lead semiconductor device capable of conducting current in only one direction. It comprises a P-N semiconductor junction, from which thermionic emission (or thermionic vacuum) takes place due to the thermal excitation of the electrons. The SK36A-TP is a type of low-power high-efficiency rectifier diode, with a peak reverse voltage rating of 36V and an average forward current rating of 1A. The device also features a maximum thermal resistance of 1.7 K/W, a three-terminal package and 40 nanoseconds of reverse recovery time.
The SK36A-TP rectifier diode is widely used in a variety of industrial applications. Power supply circuits, analog-to-digital converters, high-power EMI filters, audio amplifiers and switching power supplies are some of the equipment in which this type of device can be used. In automotive and industrial automation, rectifier diodes can be employed in the construction of high-current relays, small motor control circuitries and pulse-width modulators (PWM).
The working principle of the SK36A-TP rectifier diode is based on P-N junction theory. When the diode is connected in a circuit, the P-type material is closer to the anode terminal, while the N-type material makes contact with the cathode terminal. The P-N junction between the two portions of the diode creates a resistive barrier. When a forward biasing voltage is applied to the device, this barrier breaks down, allowing current to flow across the junction. Conversely, when a reverse biasing voltage is applied, the barrier prevents current flow until the voltage exceeds the breakdown voltage (or avalanche voltage).
The forward biasing voltage is usually provided by a current source and it must exceed a certain threshold level in order for conduction to take place. The reverse breakdown voltage is much higher than the forward bias voltage shown in the diode\'s data sheet, and will also be applied by an external source. The voltage must be held constant during the conduction period for efficient current flow.
