The SLD60U-017-B is designed to limit transients in the form of either a steady-state uni-directional overvoltage or an AC waveform. It provides enhanced protection against destructive voltage/current transient threats and is capable of operating in a temperature range from -55°C to +155°C. The device also features overvoltage protection up to 17V peak without damage, and a low test current of 1.0mA at 15V.

The SLD60U-017-B has a low capacitance of 4.4 pF and an ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection of up to 1 kV. It is a dual junction device with a Rapid voltage de-rating feature which enables it to lower its peak voltage from 17V to 10V at a temperature of +85°C. This makes it ideal for use in high-temperature environments.

The working principle of the SLD60U-017-B is based on the avalanche breakdown effect. When an internal Zener voltage is exceeded in the diode, the intrinsic breakdown mechanism occurs which results in the avalanche breakdown effect.
