A transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode is a device that neurally connected to a circuit’s power lines, it is a special form of a zener diode having both linear and avalanche breakdown characteristics. It is mainly used as protection against transients in high voltage circuits and lines, such as surges, spikes, and ESD pulses.

The SM15T200CAHE3/9AT is one of the TVS diode series by STMicroelectronics. It is an ultra-low capacitance, 5-line, bi-directional diode specifically designed for ESD and surge protection. The bi-directional feature provides protection from both positive and negative transients on any of the 5 lines.
