Working Principle

The SM5S26-E3/2D operates according to the bidirectional voltage-clamping principle. Its nonlinear, bidirectional characteristic limits the clamping voltage to values below the level of a damaging surge and short-circuit current. It is designed to provide surge protection by clamping high voltage transients to safe levels that can be connected to a ground reference. The SM5S26-E3/2D clamps currents up to 8A Peak (pk) when subjected to overvoltage conditions.

The SM5S26-E3/2D is also designed for RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) compliance and features a low dynamic resistance of up to 0.18Ω, and a low leakage current of up to 10uA. Furthermore, it offers excellent peak pulse power handling performance up to 500 Watts making it suitable for high power applications.
