Introduction

SMA4038 is an advanced 3 stage 28 pin-compatible low power monolithic bipolar array designed to provide high performance in many amplifier and interface applications. The SMA4038 is a three channel bipolar array transistor consisting of a differential amplifier and two common collector amplifiers. The output of the differential amplifier supplies the base drive and bias current to the common collectors. The SMA4038 is Suitable for many low power applications, such as audio amplifiers, AFEICs, and power amplifiers.

The SMA4038 is a general purpose product, suitable for many applications. It is mainly used in applications such as automotive audio amplifiers, low power AFEICs, and power amplifiers. Working principle

The SMA4038 is a 3-stage 28 pin-compatible low power monolithic bipolar array consisting of a differential amplifier and two common collector amplifiers. It has a common-collector amplifier configuration with a 25 performance gain, 3.5 dB noise figure and 1.7 kΩ input impedance.

The SMA4038 uses the three transistor pin configuration with the differential amplifier being operated in a voltage-follower configuration. The first transistor acts as an emitter-follower, to provide base drive and bias current to the common collector amplifier. The second transistor acts as a common collector amplifier, with the last transistor being configured as the common emitter amplifier. The SMA4038 provides a differential gain of more than 20 dB and can provide a gain of up to 100 dB with the common-emitter amplifier.

The SMA4038 offers excellent linearity across a wide range of operating conditions. Its minimum open loop gain is 25 dB as well as a maximum output voltage of 12V. The SMA4038 is also very well suited to driving loads, because of its low offset voltage and low output impedance of 1.7kΩ.

The SMA4038 also features integrated ESD protection and thermal shutdown circuitry. ESD protection on the VB, Vs and Vdd pins acts to prevent damage due to electrostatic discharge. The thermal shut down circuitry helps to protect the device from overheating.
