The SMA6L36A is an ultra-fast, low capacitance 6 channel, unidirectional TVS diode. It is designed for use as transient suppression devices in high speed data applications including USB 2.0, Ethernet, HDMI and telecommunications systems. The SMA6L36A is characterized by its high-band DC breakdown voltage, low clamping voltage (VCL), low leakage current (IR), and fast response time (trr).

Working Principle

The SMA6L36A is a bidirectional TVS diode array. It comprises of six individual silicon avalanche diodes connected in parallel and encased in an epoxy package. When an over-voltage transients occur, the avalanche diode begins to conduct and the current flow through the array is diverted to ground. The peak clamping voltage (VCL) can be calculated by multiplying the working voltage of the diode by the specified multiplication factor.

Once the current flow through the diode is stopped, the diode will reset itself, allowing normal operation to resume. The diode\'s fast response time and excellent reliability makes it the ideal choice for suppressing high-speed transients, and its low capacitance ensures cost-effective compliance with current standards.
