The SMAZ39-13-F is a single zener diode intended for use as a voltage reference and for providing a local regulated voltage for various circuits. This diode has a low forward voltage, allowing for a high efficiency. It also has an operating temperature range of -55°C to 125°C.
The SMAZ39-13-F is ideal for use in process control, telecommunications and instrumentation to protect circuits from external influences. The SMAZ39-13-F works by allowing the current to flow in one direction only, when the applied voltage is more than the breakdown voltage. When the reverse breakdown voltage of the diode is exceeded, a large amount of current will flow in the reverse direction, and this is used to regulate the voltage in the circuit. This voltage regulation is achieved with the help of the “Zener effect”, which makes the diode act as a voltage regulator.

The SMAZ39-13-F can be used in combination with a resistor to create a voltage divider circuit. By connecting the divider output to the zener diode and then to a load, the output voltage from the circuit will remain constant at the zener breakdown voltage.
