This results in a small current flow across the diode.When an amplified reverse bias is applied, then very high electric field will develop in the junction region and this will cause the majority carriers to be swept away from the junction region, effectively preventing the passage of current through the diode. In addition, this reverse bias also provides temperature protection to the device as the voltage at which it experiences breakdown decreases as the temperature of the device increases.Conclusion
