Working Principle

The SMTPA200 is a semiconductor device with two PN-junctions and two terminals. A crowbar circuit or gate resistor can be connected to the gate electrode to limit voltage transients, while current-limiting resistors can be connected to the anode and cathode to limit the maximum current.
