The SMTPA270 is part of a family of thyristors commonly referred to as TVS – Thyristor Voltage-Sensed. With the SMTPA270 being the largest in the family, this component is popular for application in solar cells and wind power plants. Thyristor voltage-sensing devices like the SMTPA270 work in an off-to-on mode.
