The SN65LBC172ADWRG4 is a bidirectional transceiver which is used to interface complementary medium voltage communication interfaces, such as CAN bus and LIN bus. This transceiver contains a single \'driver\' stage, which allows it to control the drive levels of the communications line in both directions. In addition, it also contains two \'receiver\' stages which are used to detect the signal on the communication lines and convert it into a digital value. The SN65LBC172ADWRG4 is a highly integrated unit which requires only a few external components to your circuit interface.
