The SN65LVDS31D is an integrated differential bus transceiver interface manufactured by Texas Instruments. It combines the functionality of a driver, receiver, and transceiver in one device. The SN65LVDS31D works in the following way: The driver outputs the data on one of the pins (DATA_A or DATA_B) at a voltage swing of about 340 mV. The opposite output (DATA_B or DATA_A) is open-circuit. The receiver at the other end of the link measures the voltage with respect to its ground potential. Since the voltage value is always relative, the receiver can determine the state of the data (high or low) by comparing the value of the received signal to the ground potential. The SN65LVDS31D also features a differential signal output on the CLK_A & CLK_B pins. The clock signal serves as a synchronization signal between the devices connected by the transceiver interface. It ensures that data is processed and transferred at the correct rate. In addition, the transceiver has other features which make it well-adapted for communication applications.
