The SN74ABT573APW is a high-performance octal transparent latch designed for the low-voltage bidirectional bus interface applications. This latch provides the capability of storing eightbits of data used in memory, low-frequency clock,and data bus functions. The latch is designed withtwo ceramic capacitors and two logic NAND gates forelementary static protection logic. The SN74ABT573APWfeatures eight octal latches,each providingeight transparent latching points to allow a pin-for-pin replacement of existing memory latchsolutions while offering a solution with ease of integration.

The SN74ABT573APW is provided in an LVTTL-compatible 20-pin SOIC body. This logic device is configured as one octal transparent latch withtwo twin latches. Each latch has four input pins: D, CLK, SET, and RESET. The outputs are availablefor each bit of data at Q0-Q7. The SN74ABT573APWfeatures an asynchronous active LOW reset that setsall of the outputs to the LOW state independent ofclock and data inputs. There is no master/slaverelationship with the two pairs of latches, allowingone early transition and one late transition to bemade in either order.

The SN74ABT573APW has a wide range of application fields, the most popular being memory, I/Oradio frequency, networks, and automotive applications.It is also used in video and audio applications asa means to store data. Some common applicationsinclude latching encoder data and interfacing note-book computers with external buses.

The working principle of the SN74ABT573APW is based on the static protection logic. The staticprotection logic ensures that the outputs remain in thedesired state even if the power supply or inputs areremoved. This is accomplished by the two ceramicsnand gates, one at the output and one at the input.The nand gate at the output will check the voltageof the output to make sure it is in either HIGH orLOW state. The nand gate at the input will checkthe voltage of the input to make sure it is in eitherHIGH or LOW state. If either of the nand gates detectsthat the voltage is not in the required state, it willautomatically switch the output to the state requiredby the predetermined logic.

The SN74ABT573APW is designed to work bestsuitable for low-voltage bidirectional bus interfaceapplications.
