The SN74AHC244N also has two enable pins (E1 and E2) that enable the switching of data between the input/outputs. When the E1 or E2 enable pin is in the LOW state, the associated transceiver significantly reduces the current travelling through it, allowing the data to be switched between the input/outputs. When an enable pin is in the HIGH state, the associated transceiver does not switch the data between input/outputs and the corresponding buffers are in a High Impedance (Hi-Im) state.
