Working Principle
The SN74ALS273N is a dual flip-flop peripheral unit employing separate master and slave devices. It has both positive and negative logic circuits, meaning that it can accept both positive and negative inputs and act on either one. When power is initially turned on, each flip-flop will be reset, meaning both outputs Q and Q* will be set to low. Each flip-flop has a Data Input (D), an Enable Input (E) and four output pins that are labeled Q, Q*, Clocked Data (CD) and Complementary Data CD*. The Data Inputs represent the logic levels that you wish to store in the state of the flip-flop. When a low signal is sent to the Enable Input, the state of the flip-flop remains unchanged. When a rising edge is applied to the Clock Input, the current D and E values are saved in the flip-flop which is now in a triggered state. The Q and Q* output pins show the inverse logic states of the current contents of the flip-flop. The CD* and CD pins show True and Complementary Data, meaning they represent the exact same logic state, one of which is active-low while the other is active-high.
