A master reset is used to reset the register and the buffers and each counter has two selectable outputs for counting up or down operation.

The operation of the counters is based on the asynchronous master-slave type. This operation allows biddingirectional counting and also permits several counters to be cascaded by allowing one to be the master and the others to be slaves. The counters can be initiated manually or by internal logic via the AS* low active and AST* active high inputs.

The programmable one-shots have two timing ranges. The shorter range is to delay the output by a predetermined time while the longer range can repeat the output waveform by a certain rate. The timing range and waveform are preset on the input located at the M1D input pin. In addition, a manual reset is available for the one-shots.
