SN74AS641N is one of the innovative integrated circuits from Texas Instrument’s SN74 series which is a form of the most common type of analog and digital components. SN74AS641N is a universal bus transceiver buffer which can be used in many modern devices, such as airplanes, automobiles and even computers. It is a part of the logic-buffers, drivers, receivers, and transceivers.The SN74AS641N is an 8-bit transceiver featuring non-inverting 3-state logic which can function as both a receiver or a driver. It has the ability to transfer data between the two 8-bit bidirectional port pins A and B in either the A to B direction or the B to A direction with its 3-state output. It is compatible with the TTL family of logic technology, including the 5 volt, the 3V and the CMOS.The SN74AS641N device also has a few integrated features which include data output enable as well as low power dissipation modes for operation in battery-powered devices. It also has high-impedance fault-tolerant inputs that can work without the need for external pull-up resistors.The enable signals nearly double the bus width, making it a universal bus transceiver. Each enable signal can be used to enable a particular set of data lines. This enables data from up to four independent 8-bit buses to be routed between any two ports.In addition, the SN74AS641N is designed to work with a variety of input and output power sources. It operates on voltages from 4.5v to 5.5v with a maximum output current of 6mA in the standard power mode, and 0.4mA in the low-power mode.The SN74AS641N device also has a few integrated features which include data output enable as well as low power dissipation modes for operation in battery-powered devices. It uses the control logic to determine which of the ports the data is coming from and then routes it to the appropriate port.The logic input/output portion serves to identify, control, receive, and drive all the logic signals in and out of the device. It also stores the data from the input ports and routes them to the appropriate output ports.Lastly, the reset logic enables the device to reset itself and start from a known state when required.
