The SN74AVC1T45DBVTG4 is a single-supply, level translating transceiver for low-voltage mixed-mode applications. It is designed integrating two low-voltage buffers, one low-voltage non-inverting translator, and one low-voltage inverting translator in a single device. It operates over the operating temperature range of −55°C to 125°C.

Working Principle of SN74AVC1T45DBVTG4

SN74AVC1T45DBVTG4 uses bidirectional buffers with separate output-enable (OEAB, OEBA) controls to ease the translation of translation of data from one voltage to another. This helps in protecting the data and make asynchronous communication possible. The inputs to the SN74AVC1T45DBVTG4 buffers can withstand voltages up to VCC+0.5V and down to –0.5V. This means that the device can be operated in mixed voltage environment up to VCC+0.5V without damaging the device.

When the output enable control signals (OEAB,OEBA) are low, bidirectional buffers(YAB and YBA) are enabled and the outputs of the buffers follow the inputs A and B respectively. When either of the output enable signals (OEAB,OEBA) is high,the respective buffer is disabled and the output signals stay at the high impedance level.

The low-voltage translator uses the sources at A and B and the enable signals ENBA and ENAB to translate the logic levels from one voltage domain to another. The voltages of A, B and the enable signals ENBA and ENAB are independent and can be as low as 0.35V regardless of VCC.

When ENBA is low, YBA will be driven to the level at A regardless of the level at B. Similarly, when ENAB is low, YAB will be driven to the level at B regardless of the level at A. And each translator has an enable input so that unwanted voltage translation can be prevented during testing or tri-state operation. These translators also have a power-saving mode, which is enabled when both ENBA and ENAB inputs are high. The associated buffers then turn off, totally eliminating current inrush.
