Working Principle

The SN74AVCA406DGGRG4 is an active differential signal re-driver with integrated termination. It receives differential signals at the input pins and assigns it to the output pins by redirecting a reconfigured differential signal. The device has PECL/LVDS interface at the input and output pins, supporting data transfer rate of up to 16Gb/s. The device also supports 8.5V CMOS/LVPECL/LVDS interface for receiver and transmitter circuits. The SN74AVCA406DGGRG4 employes on-chip 50 Ohm resistors to match the impedance of the transmission line. In addition, the differential termination helps to optimize the signal\'s return loss and equalize the reflections caused by discontinuities in the transmission line.

The device has an enable pin that allows the user to enable or disable the integrated termination. The enable pin also serves to protect the device from any damage during hot plugging or loopback operations. Whenever the enable pin is deasserted, the device will automatically switch to the output power supply.
