The SN74CBTD3384CPW is a quadruple 2-to-1 multiplexer that has four independent input and one active-LOW enable (EN) input. The multiplexer consists of four independent 2-to-1 multiplexers, each with individual data and select inputs and an active-LOW enable (EN) input. It is designed for 1.8-V to 5.5-V VCC operation and ground referenced inputs.

Application

The SN74CBTD3384CPW multiplexer is ideal for applications requiring simplification and expansion of cascading networks. It can be used to multiplex and de-multiplex digital signals, providing switching and/or buffering of data in a single package. It is also suitable for use in wide range of high-performance address and data multiplexing, address selection in memory systems, controlling shift registers, data bus isolation, address and data demultiplexing and serial-to-parallel conversion. All outputs are driven in the high-impedance state when the enable (EN) is inactive.

Working Principle

The SN74CBTD3384CPW multiplexer is a low-power, high-speed quadruple 2-to-1 multiplexer. Internally it has four independent data selectors and one enable (EN) input. It uses low voltage CMOS technology to reduce the overall power consumption in operation. The enable (EN) input is used to control the data selectors; when the enable (EN) is active, it enables the data selectors. The four select (SEL) inputs are used to select the appropriate output from the four data selectors. The four data inputs (D0 - D3) are used to provide the data for the four independent data selectors to select the desired data. The output (OUT) is driven only if the enable (EN) is active and any of the four select (SEL) inputs is active.

The SN74CBTD3384CPW can also be used as a 2-to-4 line decoder, when selected in the non-inverting mode. In this mode, the selects (SELs) represent the data bits and the enable (EN) bit acts as the select (SEL) bit. The data inputs (D0 - D3) are used to provide the data for the four independent data selectors to select the desired data output (OUT), when the select (SEL) bit is active.
