The SN74FB2033ARC is an 8-bit static latch configuration consisting of two, 4-bit latches operating from a common Clock Input. Separate Clock Inputs provided for each latch facilitates independent operation of each portion of the SN74FB2033ARC.

The SN74FB2033ARC also incorporates output hold circuitry and level-shifting circuitry. The output hold circuitry is configured to allow the outputs of the latch to remain static while the logic level of the Clock Input is High. The level-shifting circuitry allows the input and output levels of each 4-bit latch to be compatible with either 3.3V or 5.0V logic families. The level-shifting circuit supports both TTL and CMOS logic families.

The SN74FB2033ARC employs a set of eight master-slave flip flops to even out distortions caused by metastability. The metastable flip-flops are prevented from entering a metastable state by locking the output of each flip flop to a LOW logic level to release the metastable state until the state of the flip-flop is determined.
