The SN74GTL2006PWR is a logic device used to convert a signal from one logical level to another, enabling two circuits operating at different voltage levels to communicate. It is a six-channel low-capacitance bi-directional voltage-level translator first released by Texas Instruments.

Application Field

The SN74GTL2006PWR is primarily used in mixed-voltage systems, where a logic family operating at one voltage level needs to be connected to a logic family operating at another. This could be a case in which a 3-volt logic family is connected to a 5-volt logic family, or with most modern systems, a 1.8-volt logic family to a 5-volt logic family. Working Principle

The SN74GTL2006PWR is a low-voltage, bi-directional level network that allows data from multiple logic families to be transmitted across voltage levels. It consists of two independent power supplies, which provide input voltage for the six channels, each operating at up to 2.4V. The converter uses double-MOS technology and a CMOS core for the voltage-level shift, using a single circuit to transfer between multiple interfaces. The converter operates in two modes: parallel mode, in which all of the channels shift in parallel, and series mode, in which only one channel is functioning at a time.

The SN74GTL2006PWR also incorporates a host of protection features. These include over-voltage protection, which protects against damage from power-rail voltages higher than the chip\'s specified maximum operating voltage, and UVLO (Under Voltage Lock Out), which shuts off power to the chip when the voltage drops below a certain level to prevent damage from a short circuit. Additionally, an electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection circuit is included on the integrated circuit to protect inputs from over-voltage or accidental electrostatic discharges.

The SN74GTL2006PWR enables logical levels of various supplies to be shifted from 1.2 to 3.6 volts, and is able to provide a low stand-by current, ranging from 0.35 uA to 0.4uA in sleep mode. Furthermore, it features up to 500kHz of input frequency, with outputs operating at up to 25mA. Its temperature range could also be specified, where it has an operating range of -40 to 85 °C, and it consumes low power, with power dissipating at a maximum of 90mW.
