The SN74LV244ATNS is a quad bidirectional buffer integrated circuit, which belongs to a category of chips named logic buffers, drivers, receivers, and transceivers. It is developed by Texas Instruments as part of their low-voltage series of logic gates. This device allows enablement/disablement of bi-directional signals, while providing wide voltage specifications and various package option. Working Principle

The SN74LV244ATNS is a low-voltage, quad-bufcier gate that integrates four bidirectional buffers in one package. Each bidirectional buffer of the device has three ports, including the output port (output), the data port (IO, bidirectional Input/Output) and the control port (OE, Output Enable). When the Output (I) is enabled, the level of the logic signal at the data port (IO) is replicated at the output port (O). When the Output (O) is disabled, the output becomes a high-impedance state and the data port (IO) becomes unidirectional and can be used for inputting data. The control port (OE) allows for individual disablement of particular buffers.

The device operates on a voltage of 1.65V to 5.5V, including overshoot and rail-to-rail input/output. It is designed to withstand voltage of up to 6V, and all the standard logic families are supported including the common CMOS and TTL logic.

The, SN74LV244ATNS is also equipped with two additional pins, one for the chip reset and the other one for power supply. This two-pin setup minimizes the size of the package and ensures stability of the device over a wide voltage range. In order to guarantee EMC compatibility and correct signal transmission, the chip uses symmetric architectures for minimal implementation.

Finally, in order to protect the device from spikes during power sequencing and power-off conditions, it comes with latchup protection of up to 300 mA from each pin and a maximum power of up to + 600 mA.
