The SPV1520N is a high-performance, surface-mount, super-fast Recovery rectifier from ROHM Semiconductor. These devices are ideal for high-frequency, fast-switching applications, and serve as an alternative for traditional semiconductor components.

SPV1520N rectifiers have ultra-low forward voltage drop and are constructed of low-thermal-resistance, plated lead-frame packages. These packages help minimize thermal losses, aiding in long-term reliability. They are available in through-hole and surface-mount packages, and with the ability to handle higher currents and higher voltages, SPV1520N rectifiers are capable of minimizing power losses that would otherwise be lost in more inefficient devices.

The working principle behind the SPV1520N rectifier is simple in that it works by allowing a current to pass in only one direction. Unlike other types of rectifier components, such as diodes and transistors, the SPV1520N uses a rectifier bridge, which consists of four diodes connected in a closed loop. When one diode is forward biased, the other three are reverse-biased, meaning no current can flow.

This causes charge to be transferred from the anode to the cathode of each diode, depending on the phase of the current being applied. This generates a uni-directional current flow in the circuit.
