1. Describe
RailClamps are surge rated diode arrays designed to Protect high-speed data interfaces. SR series has Specifically designed to protect sensitive ingredients Nent connected to data and transport Overvoltage lines from electrostatic discharge charge (ESD), electrical fast transient (EFT), and lightning. Unique design combination of SR series equipment Rate Eight Rated Surge, Low Capacitance Steering Diode and TVS diode in one package. period Under transient conditions, the steering diode directly Transient to either positive side of the power supply line or ground. Internal TVS diodes prevent overvoltage on the power line, protecting any down-Stream components. The SRV05-4 has a low typical capacitance of 3pF and Operates to 1GHz with virtually no insertion loss. This makes the device ideal for protecting high-speed Cables such as USB 2.0, Firewire, DVI and Gigabit Ethernet interface. The low capacitance array configuration allows the user Protects four high-speed data or transmission lines. Low inductance construction minimizes voltage overshoot during high current surges. they may be For meeting IEC ESD immunity requirements 61000-4-2, Level 4 (±15kV air, ±8kV contact dis- toll).

6. Application Information
The SRV05-4 TVS is designed to protect four data lines from transient overvoltages by clamping to one Fixed reference. When the protected voltage line exceeds the reference voltage (plus diode VF) The steering diode is forward biased to conduct transient currents away from sensitive circuits. The data lines are connected on pins 1, 3, 4 and 6. This pin should be connected directly to the ground plane on the board for best results. Path lengths are kept as short as possible to minimize parasitic inductance. To protect the data and power lines, connect pin 5 directly to the positive power rail (VCC). In this configuration the data lines are referenced to the supply voltage. Internal TVS diodes prevent overvoltage on the power rails. The SRV05-4 can be isolated from the power supply by adding a series resistor between pin 5 and VCC. A value of 100k is recommended. The internal TVS and steering diodes remain biased, providing the advantage of low capacitance.
