SS25L RVG Application Field and Working Principle

SS25L RVG is a single diode rectifier which can be used in various applications, including industrial, commercial, telecommunications, and consumer electronics. This device is a Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) that has been modified to operate in a very wide temperature range (from –55°C to + 175°C) and provide very reliable overvoltage protection. The device is known for its fast response and low temperature coefficient.The basic working principle of SS25L RVG is that it uses a metal oxide varistor as its main protection element. The metal oxide variations are a combination of ceramic elements and metal electrodes sealed in a ceramic disk. The disk is made of ceramic and is filled with a specially formulated ceramic media which provides a high degree of breakdown voltage stability and fast response features.The metal electrodes are connected to two separate lines that are made of different materials. One line, which is the input line, is connected to the main input voltage and the other line, which is the control line, is connected to the output voltage. When the input voltage is higher than the control line\'s value, the metal oxide varistor stops conducting, thus protecting the device from an overvoltage condition.The electrical characteristics of SS25L RVG are governed by a few parameters, such as its peak surge current, breakdown voltage, current leakage and capacitance. The peak surge current is the maximum level of current that can be reliably supported by the device. The breakdown voltage is the maximum working voltage before the protection element breaks down under high levels of current. The current leakage is the current that enters through the metal oxide varistor when the voltage reaches its breakdown value. Lastly, the capacitance is the energy storage capacity of the device.These parameters determine the performance of SS25L RVG. For example, if the peak surge current is too high, the device may not be able to provide the required protection. Similarly, if the breakdown voltage is too low, the device may not be able to protect the device from a large overvoltage. Thus, the combination of these parameters must be carefully selected in order to achieve the desired performance.The SS25L RVG is mainly used in automotive and power grid applications, such as in electric cars, home charging stations, lightning protection, Zener Diode and line transient protection. In these applications, the device is expected to protect the system from line transients, overvoltages, and surges.
