ST26C32ABTR is a highly integrated serial port non-volatile memory interface circuit, a member of the ST26C32ABT family, of SERIALERAMT™ products from Seamless Memory Technology (SMT) Solutions. It is designed to provide a simple means of accessing serial RAMs from a wide range of memory technologies without the need for external logic devices.The ST26C32ABTR can provide a bridge between multiple sources of data, using both digital and analog interfaces. Its features include Bus Master DMA and signal conditioning, as well as 4-bit and 8-bit interfaces for interfacing to wider system data buses or for providing a wider range of signal conditioning.The ST26C32ABTR can be used with a wide range of memory technologies, from SRAMs to DRAMs and is particularly suitable for NOR and NAND Flash memory. It is suitable for providing a means of accessing memories such as EEPROMs and ferroelectric RAMs, as well as providing support for many other non-volatile memories. The ST26C32ABTR incorporates a 32-Bit Data Bus Interface (DBI) with 8-Bit, 4-Bit and 1-Bit wide data buses for interfacing to a wide range of memory technologies. It also incorporates analog signal conditioning circuitry for interface to standard logic interfaces. The DBI enables an interface to be created to a host microcontroller without the need for external logic devices.The ST26C32ABTR has a range of peripherals, including a 4-Channel Direct Memory Access (DMA) controller, a Timer, a Programmable Interrupt Controller (PIC), and interrupts. The ST26C32ABTR also provides support for external storage devices such as CompactFlash, Secure Digital (SD) cards and SmartMedia, enabling the device to be used with a wide range of storage media, such as flash memory, as well as providing a means of interfacing to other non-volatile memory devices.The ST26C32ABTR’s operating voltage range is from 2.2V to 3.3V and it is available in a range of package outlines.The primary application field for the ST26C32ABTR is for interfacing with existing system designs for serial non-volatile memory or for connecting to new system designs. It can be used to create a bridge between multiple sources of data, such as µC/DSPs, cellular phones, PDAs and other embedded systems.When used for interfacing with non-volatile memories, the ST26C32ABTR provides a simple, low-cost means of accessing storage media, such as NOR and NAND Flash, as well as providing support for many other non-volatile memories.It can also be used as a bridge between multiple sources of data, such as creating a connection between an embedded system and a host device, a cellular phone and an external microcontroller, or a PDA and a peripheral device.The ST26C32ABTR\'s working principle is based around a 32-bit Serial Bus Interface (SBI) and 8-bit, 4-bit and 1-bit wide data buses. This is used to connect to a wide range of memory technologies and the DBI allows for fast, reliable data transfer. The DBI also provides support for external storage devices.The DBI also allows for signal conditioning of the data, enabling operators to adjust the level of voltage used for transfers. This reduces the amount of noise and interference produced when transferring data.
