ST750ACD is an intelligent power switch device designed using advanced CMOS process. It features integrated two-stage power conversion topology to deliver an output voltage that is regulated to an accuracy of +-2%. This type of DC-DC switching regulators employ a switching device instead of a linear regulator to provide a regulated output from an input voltage that is higher or lower than the desired output level, eliminating the need for an external transformer and thus lowering system cost.
The ST750ACD power device integrates a power MOSFET, high frequency PWM controller, Current-Mode control and a 5V LO-Start circuit in a single package, enabling it to provide high efficiency, fast transient responses, low output ripple and excellent current limitation characteristics.
The device comes with adjustable switching frequency and low standby power consumption, helping to reduce EMI, as well as thermal spread, maintaining reliable and stable operation of the system. It also supports a wide operating temperature range of -40 to 125°C, making it an ideal choice for highly reliable, temperature immune applications.
The ST750ACD is ideal for use in desktop monitors, notebooks, industrial applications, military systems, and automotive applications. It can also be used in portable game consoles, digital TVs, wireless systems, data storage and GPS applications.
Working Principle
The ST750ACD is a two-stage power converter, meaning that it has two independent stages that work together to provide the regulated output voltage. The first stage consists of a power MOSFET switch, a high-frequency current mode controller, and an inductor that transmits energy to the output. The switching controller continuously adjusts the duty cycle of the switch so that the average current through the inductor matches the current sense amplifier output as given by the load conditions, thereby maintaining the output voltage.
The second stage is a low dropout (LDO) linear regulator. It receives the unregulated output of the switching stage. The LDO compares the output voltage with a reference voltage and adjusts the voltage gain of the device so that the output voltage is regulated or constant.
The ST750ACD also includes a LO-Start circuit that provides a 5V output to minimize extra power supply components. This is ideal for applications that require quick activation or charging of capacitors before main voltage rails are energized.
