STA-5063 is an amplifier module designed specifically for use in RF (radio frequency) communications. It is a medium power amplifier with moderate linearity and gain. It is designed to deliver up to 50dBm power output at operating frequencies from 0.1 MHz to 5000 MHz.
The STA-5063 uses a cascode amplifier configuration composed of a combination of two transistors, a small signal transistor and a large signal power transistor. The small signal transistor is connected to both the input and output, forming a differential amplifier configuration. The differential amplifier makes sure signal integrity is maintained across the frequency range.
The STA-5063 consists of five major components: input impedance-matching network, biasing network, power transistor, output impedance-matching network, and protection circuitry. The input and output impedance-matching networks are built around matching transformers, which ensures good VSWR performance. The biasing network is used to bias the power transistor in Class A condition, ensuring optimum gain and linearity. The output impedance-matching network is used to adjust the amplifier\'s output power. Lastly, the protection circuitry ensures protection from faults such as VSWR, thermal runaway, and reverse connection.
In addition, the amplifier has two integrated temperature sensors that monitor the amplifier temperature in real time. The amplifier is also designed with an external power control (EPC) function. This allows the user to adjust the output power from 0 to +50 dBm without having to connect any external resistors or transistors.
The STA-5063 is designed for use in radio communication systems, including base stations, transceivers, satellite communication systems, and repeaters. It delivers moderate gain and linearity at operating frequencies up to 5 GHz. With its integrated protection circuitry and EPC function, the STA-5063 is a reliable and cost-effective solution for wireless communication applications.
