The STA8089FG is a multi-standard RF receiver optimized for different RF technologies used in a variety of applications. The radio receiver is built on a 65nm CMOS process, utilizing low pass filtering of the received signal and embedding a low noise downconversion mixer, modulation demodulation, and power amplifier. The low pass filtering suppresses adjacent channel interference and attenuates high frequency noise, resulting in low cost receiver solutions.
The STA8089FG radio receiver is the ideal solution for applications such as personal communication terminals, wireless audio and video transmission, high speed data transfers, and vehicular access control systems. The radio receiver can be used with communication standards such as W-CDMA, GSM, CDMA, EDGE, and HSPA+/LTE. It is integrated with on-chip VCOs, RX-TX switch, frequency synthesizer, crystal oscillator, reference voltage circuits, and power management. The integrated solution further lowers power consumption, reduces size of overall solutions, and simplifies RF system design.
The STA8089FG radio receiver features an on-chip heterodyne low noise downconversion mixer for wide dynamic range. It is designed to reduce board area through integration of external components such as VCOs, Duplexer, LPFs, Sputtering Chambers, etc. The transmission/reception switch is integrated with the low noise amplifier for switching between receive and transmit concurrently. The entire radio receiver is built on a single chip for maximum flexibility and overall performance. Low power RF architecture and integrated automatic gain control (AGC) ends the overall power consumption.
The STA8089FG radio receiver additionally comes with an embedded level limiter and audio filter output, as well as low IF filter and NF compensation for improved dynamic range. The integrated low IF filter also improves the signal quality and reduces adjacent channel interference. Low power phase-locked loop control also simplifies high-frequency performance, allowing the receiver to accurately track and synchronize with the desired signal. The integrated audio filters output allow for audio improvement and allows for natural sound to streamline reception from any distance.
The STA8089FG radio receiver is programmed to work with FM and other digital modulation schemes like LSB/USB, BPSK, QPSK, APSK, OQPSK, FSK, and MSK. It features an extensive instruction set, enabling decision making and data handling at a high speed and with minimal power consumption. The radio receiver also features signal conditioning and carrier sensing. Signal conditioning allows the receiver to process and reduce signal distortion and to recognize the signal carrier. Carrier sensing enables the radio receiver to detect available spectrum and select the appropriate transmission scheme, as well as adjust transmission/reception power accordingly.
