STBB3JCCR is a switching regulator that is specially designed for the power management integrated circuit (PMIC) industry. It can be used for various applications including mobile device battery chargers, industrial or home appliance control, and solar cell panels. This regulator is highly efficient, with features that enable minimum power consumption and long product lifetime.The STBB3JCCR switching regulator is a DC-DC buck converter with the output voltage adjustable by a low resistance external resistor divider. It operates in a wide range of supply voltage up to 32V and provides a constant output current up to 3A. It offers current monitoring, overload protection as well as temperature protection. Compared to linear regulators, the power savings offered with this product can be up to 90%.STBB3JCCR selection is based on input voltage, output voltage, output current capability and package type. The device comes in a surface mounted SOT-23-6 package and has an on-time adjustable down to 120ns. The use of an external resistor divider allows easy adjustment of the output voltage.The working principle of the STBB3JCCR revolves around the fact that power is supplied by a voltage source, such as a battery or DC source, and is converted from one voltage level to another by a power converter. The switch falls into a closed position, thereby allowing a current flow from the input voltage to the output voltage. With a controlled switch, the output voltage is maintained at a fixed value.The STBB3JCCR includes a driver circuit that pulls the switch up or down. The output voltage is regulated by modifying the duty cycle of the switch. This switching converter uses a Pulse Width Modulated circuit to control the on-time of the switch.The device consists of a high side MOSFET switch in series between the inductor and the output current. The purpose of the series MOSFET switch is to turn off the circuit and reduce the output current to zero. The output current is sensed by the internal current limit and it is monitored by the device under voltage lock out, short circuit protection and thermal protection. With a low output voltage ripple, high switching frequency of 2MHz and fast transient response, this regulator is ideal to provide constant and stable power for a variety of applications.
