The STM32F031C6T6 is a member of a large family of 32 bit ARM (Advanced RISC Machine) Cortex-M0 core microcontrollers. It is made by STMicroelectronics and can be found as standalone chip on popular development boards such as the STM32 Nucleo series or as a common device on WITTENSTIEN or TI modules. This device is mainly used in motor control, power conversion, general industrial communication networks and many other general purpose applications.
This device includes 32 pins, and many of the pins can be used for multiple purposes. Program memory (ROM) is arranged as 64 kB, with Data memory (RAM) up to 4KB, and 8KB of Flash memory. Clock frequency up to 48MHz while consumption is kept to a low thermal consumption of 2.9 mA/MHz of MIPS. It features digital pulse-width modulation (PWM) with 8-bit servos, timers, real time interrupts and in-circuit debuggers. Flexible debouncing and signal skip logic are included on interrupt pins.
The STM32F031C6T6 processor is designed to take advantage of the ARM Cortex-M0 instruction set. This instruction set offers a small set of instructions to effectively and accurately control the CPU and its many peripherals. The ARM instruction set is based on the Harvard RISC architecture, which strives to make the processor fetch and execute instructions very quickly, quickly reloading the registers with new data for the next instruction cycle. It also supports a powerful DMA (Direct Memory Access) engine for faster transfer of instructions and data. This processor supports two low power modes, the Sleep and Stop modes, for better power efficiency.
