The STP6X18YL is a high-performance PWM stepper motor driver. It adopts a synchronous rectification technology that increases motor drive efficiency up to 95%, resulting in advanced motor performance, better control accuracy and longer lifetime. This driver is suitable for all kinds of medium and high-end systems and can also be used with various motors.
This stepper motor driver is most suitable for applications where high performance and high efficiency is required. Examples of these applications include CNC systems, industrial machinery, robots, automation equipment, medical equipment and pumps. It can also be used in digitally controlled systems that require precise motion control such as colour reproduction, printer motors and remote-controlled toys.
The STP6X18YL is equipped with multiple protection features to ensure safe and reliable operation. It also has an EMI filter to effectively reduce the noise interference generated by the driving motors. Additionally, the driver is equipped with a built-in overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, short-circuit protection and overheating protection.
To achieve maximum performance, the motor must be connected to a DC power supply that supplies the desired voltage output. The input voltage for this motor driver is 8V to 18V and the output current can be adjusted manually from 0 to 7A. The pulse frequency can also be adjusted for driving different motors, from 6 kHz to 200 kHz.
The working principle of the STP6X18YL is based on a pulse width modulation (PWM) drive technique. When the motor is connected to the power supply, this pulse width modulation will continuously generate digital signals, which are converted into voltage by the driver.
