STPCH2.5MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) is a kind of biological treatment technology developed in recent years in order to improve the efficiency of wastewater treatment. It has been widely applied in municipal, industrial and agricultural wastewater treatment.

It is composed of a conductive medium in the form of numerous plastic balls floating in the water, forming a kind of self-developing biofilm on the surface of the balls. The microorganisms become attached to plastic balls and start to grow and reproduce on them. The microorganisms in the activated sludge in turn oxidizes the organic matter in water. The plastic balls provides the necessary support to the microorganisms, allowing oxygen to get to inside, which is conducive to the growth and metabolism of microorganisms. When the organic matter is oxidized by the microorganisms, the wastewater gradually becomes clear.
