The STPS340B-TR is a single diode rectifier with a maximum forward continuous current of 3A and a reverse voltage of 340V. This type of rectifier is used in more diverse applications than many other rectifier types, ranging from AC adapters and voltage regulators to high-end power amplifiers.

Rectifiers are in essence a device that can be used to convert an alternating current (AC) into a direct current (DC). This is accomplished by using an arrangement of open semiconductor gate-controlled switches and diodes which allow positive current to pass but not negative current. Working Principle
