STTH1602CG

The STTH1602CG is a 3-phase bridge rectifier array used in various applications such as DC-to-DC converters, motor control and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). It features a low forward voltage drop, fast di/dt capability, low leakage current and low reverse current. The device offers an integrated three-phase bridge rectifier circuit in a single 16-pin package.

The STTH1602CG comprises of two cell blocks, each containing six diodes in a full-wave bridge configuration. Each cell block is developed for single-phase applications or for phase-shifted applications. Each phase of the device is capable of handling continuous currents up to 16A, with peak forward surge currents of 50A and with a typical forward voltage drop of just 1.7V at 8A. The STTH1602CG is also available in a voltage-controlled variant which is typically used for motor control applications.

The STTH1602CG operates using a simple principle. When a positive or negative voltage is applied to the load, the voltage is divided among the cells in the device. During positive power flow, the cathodes of the device’s center four diodes become positive, while the one of the outside two anodes become negative. This creates a full-wave bridge rectifier configuration with the current now flowing in two directions. In negative power flow, the outside two diodes become positive while the inside four diodes become negative which creates the same full-wave configuration with the current flowing in the opposite direction.

The STTH1602CG is available in standard and reverse-pinout packages and is designed to leverage the existing power-chip infrastructure. It is also suitable for use in a variety of industrial, automotive and consumer electronic applications. The device is built for industrial-grade applications and is resistant to vibration, extreme temperature and humidity. It is rated at an operating temperature of -55°C to +150°C.
