STW81200T application field and working principle

STW81200T is a versatile clock generator for programmable frequency and power applications. This clock synthesis device provides a broad range of clock and reference frequencies from 0.3 to 2 MHz, with wide spectral output range from 0.1Hz to 150MHz with low power consumption over the operating temperature range. It can be used in a variety of applications such as digital oscilloscopes, time-to-digital converters and frequency synthesis.The STW81200T is a programmable oscillator based on a higher frequency clock that can be used to produce any required frequency of clock output. It is composed of a few main components: a digitally controlled reference oscillator and divider, an operational amplifier, a control logic circuit and an adjustable DC insertion circuit. The reference oscillator is designed to be digitally programmable and can be used to divide the internal clock to generate the desired output frequency. The adjustable DC insertion circuit is used to adjust the frequency by varying the bias current on the amplifying transistor, thus allowing the device to precisely adjust the output frequency.The output frequencies of the STW81200T are further divided by the internal divider chain, which increases the resolution of the output frequency and provides jitter suppression. The output frequency is divided down from the reference oscillator, from hundreds of MHz to below 10 MHz. It is possible to use the device in applications where it is not necessary to divide the output frequency down to the intended frequency, in which case the divider can be bypassed for increased speed and lower power consumption.The STW81200T is capable of suppressing jitter at signal edges and giving excellent phase noise performance. Jitter suppression is critical for signals that need to be synchronized at low frequencies.The STW81200T has the ability to adjust the output voltage swing and voltage supply levels depending on the customer design. It can also be used to program a wide range of output frequencies. The device is used in a variety of embedded system such as industrial control and memory systems.The STW81200T is a low power, highly integrated, monolithic, low noise clock generator supporting output frequencies up to 2MHz which makes it ideal for a wide range of applications in the digital and embedded systems industry.
