SY100EL15ZI is a type of versatile clock buffer and driver. Its main feature is the ability to buffer, divide, or delay clock outputs and serve as a level shifter for low to medium speed logic, allowing for simplified clock tree structure and improved system timing characteristics. Through the use of its on-chip control inputs, it is able to change its internal clock configuration, enabling a single device to provide up to eight clock outputs.Application FieldThis clock buffer is applicable to many applications. It is designed for use in high performance, precision electronics such as digital audio, video and telecommunications systems. It is also suitable as a point-to-point timer/interval generator and system synchronization. Finally, by providing differential and balanced outputs, this clock buffer is ideal for situations where reliable and robust timing signals are required.Working PrincipleThe SY100EL15ZI clock buffer is based on a modular structure of partitioned clock input and control blocks. The clock input logic allows for compatible input of various logic families including PECL, LVDS, HSTL, SSTL, and LVPECL. The internal control logic consists of a register and a decision mux used to configure the output timing of the device. The internal control registers define the output drivers as either high or low impedance.The clock input and control logic are connected to the clock output drivers by output muxes. These output muxes determine which of the control logic outputs will be connected to the outputs. When the clock output drivers are enabled, the data flow will be diverted to either the control logic or to the clock output drivers, based on the logic determined by the internal control logic.The internal control logic is designed to allow an asynchronous or synchronous link between the input and output clocks, making the device ideal for applications with asynchronous clock sources. This clock buffer is capable of producing standard clock frequencies of up to 250MHz, giving it a wide range of applications.The SY100EL15ZI can also be used to automatically change the frequency, duty cycle, phase, and skew of the clock outputs. This is completely configurable by the user and can be adjusted for various user control protocols. Overall, the SY100EL15ZI is an excellent choice for any application requiring reliable clock signals.
