Clock/Timing - Clock Buffers, DriversThe SY100H841ZC-TR is a Class I clock buffer which combines an industry standard low Skew programmable Delay Line with a 1 to 4 differential Fan-Out buffer. This combination enables the SY100H841ZC-TR to compensate for variations in system clock trace routing, while providing very low output-to-output skew and jitter. The SY100H841ZC-TR internal bias voltage source ensures reliable operation over temperature and process variations. The SY100H841ZC-TR is provided in a space saving 8-pin HSOP package.
The SY100H841ZC-TR is especially designed for the transmission of the Clock signal from one device to the other, in order to ensure a precise timing operations between those devices. This device can be used for a wide area of applications where timing and synchronization are crucial. Specifically, the SY100H841ZC-TR is suitable for applications in satellite positioning and navigational systems, communication systems and electronic control systems, such as automotive and industrial controllers.
The working principle of the SY100H841ZC-TR can be summarized as follows. The device takes the input signal and, depending of the setting of the Delay-Select Logic, amplifies it and transmits the signal to one of the 4 differential output ports. This signal contains the information of the clock data, as well as the time varying parameters set by the user (delay, inversion, and/or skew) that have to be matched with the device to which the SY100H841ZC-TR will transmit the signal to. Upon reception of the signal, the differential output ports provide the necessary data to interface with the receiving device.
The SY100H841ZC-TR is capable of providing an output-to-output skew of only 2ns, as well as an average jitter of 1.4ps across different temperature and device process. Such performance is possible due to its differential outputs, which are capable of transferring the signal more accurately and with more precision than single-ended outputs. Additionally, the SY100H841ZC-TR features internal voltage references, enabling the device to provide enough energy to maintain the output signals at the required level. Furthermore, the SY100H841ZC-TR operates from a low voltage supply, from as low as 2.25V up to 5.75V. This feature allows the SY100H841ZC-TR to be used for a wide range of applications.
