Introduction SY10ELT21ZG is a logic translator and level shifter which is widely used in multiple applications such as VME, PCI, memory and data buses. It is a dual channel, high speed, low voltage CMOS device that translates between low-voltage digital logic levels and higher voltage TTL logic levels. It is designed to be powered from either a 5 V or 3.3 V supply voltage and can be used to translate between any two logic levels in the range of 1.5 V to 5 V. Working Principle The SY10ELT21ZG can operate either in translation mode, to translate between two different logic levels, or in buffer mode, where it acts as a buffer between two different active logic families. In translation mode, the input stages are always enabled, while the output stages of the translator can be controlled by the buffer enable pins. When the buffer is enabled, the output stages are switched on and the signals are transferred between the two voltage domains. The buffer enable pins are used to control the direction of flow of the signals. When the buffer is disabled, the output stages of the translator are non-driven and the signals will not be transferred between the two logic levels. In buffer mode, the output stages are always active, and the signals in one voltage domain are always transferred to the other voltage domain. The SY10ELT21ZG can be used to translate between any two logic levels in the range of 1.5 V to 5 V. The device is also equipped with a power down feature, which allows the device to be turned off when not in use.
