Thyristors - TRIACs are a class of semiconductor devices that are used within electronic power controllers and other power electronics systems. They switch on when applied with a positive voltage across their gate and source electrodes, and can be used to control the power supplied, producing a smooth current output for applications such as light dimming, controlling motors or even for use in communication and aviation electronics. The T1050H-6T Thyristor combines the properties of a Triac, a transistor and a diac, and offers excellent bidirectional blocking ability, low on-state voltage drop, low off-state current, fast switching times and superior thermal characteristics.

The T1050H-6T is a Triac-type Thyristor that is a single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) device. It is comprised of two back-to-back terminals (T1 and T2), a gate terminal and an anode terminal. When positive voltage is applied across the anode and gate terminals, a current flow is generated between the anode and either T1 or T2 depending on which positive lead is connected at the gate terminal. The current is switched on and off when the positive voltage is switched between the anode and the gate terminal.

The T1050H-6T Thyristor can operate over a wide range of current, voltage and temperature ranges. The device has a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C and allows a maximum peak repetitive voltage of 6V. The gate-triggering voltagetolerance is 0.2 to 11 volts and it measures 9mm x 6mm x 5mm. The device is designed for applications such as light dimming and motor control, as well as for use in communications, aviation electronics, digital control, asynchronous motors and anti-surge protection.

The on-state voltage drop of the T1050H-6T is low compared to other similar Triac-type thyristors, ensuring a low overall power dissipation. Additionally, the T1050H-6T features fast switching times with minimal dv/dt performance and minimal di/dt spikes. Mounted on a suitable heatsink and/or a printed circuit board, the device has superior thermal characteristics and will not generate thermal runaway characteristics.
