INTRODUCTION
T485C, or Thyristor Bridge Rectifier, is a bridge rectifier composed of silicon controlled rectifiers (SCRs). It is a closed-loop three-phase AC voltage regulator, widely used in industrial applications for responding the changes of line voltages.WORKING PRINCIPLE
The rectifier is mainly composed of a three-phase thyristor bridge with three diodes in a star-connectable form. The thyristor bridge is arranged in an inverted U-shape form, with each arm containing one SCR and one diode. When an AC voltage is applied to the thyristor bridge, the anode of each SCR is forward biased, causing the SCR to turn on.Once the SCR is turned on, it remains in the on-state until the circuit is broken or the current drops below a certain level. The conduction of the SCR in the forward direction allows a predetermined amount of energy to be released to the load. The amount of energy released is determined by the current and voltage that the SCR can handle.The bridge rectifier also has a protective mechanism known as the "crowbar protection." This feature is triggered when an overcurrent or overvoltage is detected, breaking the circuit and thus shutting down the thyristor bridge.APPLICATION FIELD
The T485C is mainly used in industrial settings where the voltage fluctuation range is high. It can be used in electric substation, petrochemical industry, power plants and other industrial applications where the load is nonlinear.Due to its features, the bridge rectifier is also used for inverter applications, such as in renewable energy, electric vehicle, and traction systems.
