An SCR or a Silicon Controlled Rectifier is one of the most widely used thyristors. SCR is basically a voltage driven switch with 3 pins, an Anode, Gate and Cathode as shown in Figure 1.

The current will start to decrease until it is cut off from the Anode (A) and Cathode (K) poles. This state is known as the “OFF” state.
