Tantalum – Polymer Capacitors
Tantalum-polymer capacitors are versatile, reliable and cost effective subminiature capacitors. They were designed to meet the demanding needs of the automotive, telecommunications and medical industries. The T543B107M010ATS150 (T543) is a multi-layer, four-terminal, rigid capacitor that is suitable for use in compact and even extremely high density circuits.

Working Principle
The operating principle of Tantalum-polymer capacitors is based on a combination of a large capacitance per unit volume, electrochemical double-layer capacitance, and low ESR/ESL values. This combination of characteristics enables the capacitors to deliver higher efficiency and reliability compared to other types of capacitors. The T543 combines a lead free termination and a multi-layer encapsulation to ensure high frequency performance, high voltage ratings, high ripple current ratings, wide temperature range capability and good short-term reliability.
The capacitance per unit volume of Tantalum-polymer capacitors is much higher than in other types of capacitors. This allows for the production of much larger capacitance values than most other types. The high capacitance also provides for more stable current delivery and faster charge/discharge rates than other types of capacitors. The electrochemical double-layer capacitance contributes to the overall capacitance value, as well as providing high leakage currents and good energy storage. The combination of a low ESR/ESL value and high capacitance allows the capacitor to provide very high ripple current ratings in compact packages.
The T543 capacitor is designed to provide excellent performance under high power, high frequency, and high temperature conditions. It has a wide operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C and can support high-voltage circuit designs up to 16V. The capacitor also offers excellent ESD protection, with protection levels ranging from -35V to +35V. The capacitor also offers excellent current handling capabilities, with maximum ripple current ratings up to 45A.
