T543X226M063ATE0757280 is a type of Tantalum – Polymer Capacitors. It is a kind of capacitor suitable for high capacitance and relative low voltage applications.

The main structure of Tantalum – Polymer Capacitors consists of two electrodes including an anode and a cathode, a low porosity dielectric separating them and a conductive layer connecting them. This structure is hermetically sealed inside of a case.

Tantalum – Polymer Capacitors have a bench of advantages, and these are the reasons why it is broadly used in electrical circuit design. It is an ideal component for smoothing out high frequency irregularities in the current specifically for mobile applications including personal computers, tablets or cellular phones, where a small form factor and energy efficient operation is a must. Its efficiency is with regards to its small size compared to ceramic and aluminum electrolytic capacitors.

The operating temperature range is another advantage, as they are able to work up to 125°C, while aluminum electrolytic capacitors has a limit of around 105°C. This contributes to their exceptional ripple current and voltage capability.

A unique feature of Tantalum – Polymer Capacitors is the “no maintenance” operation. It doesn’t require adding any extra components, electrolyte or maintenance to keep a capacitor working. This enables them to work in the most difficult of environmental conditions, and it’s the main reason why they are so desirable for military applications.

Tantalum – Polymer Capacitors also has a high reliability, with no change in capacitance or any leakage current under conditions of over-voltage, over-temperature or pressure. Furthermore, it has a self-healing behaviour, meaning that when it is exposed to a high voltage or current event, the localized current path in the dielectric is ruptured, thus protecting the capacitor from further damage.

Additionally, they are well known for their low internal resistance, meaning they’re capable of providing higher capacitance than other technologies despite its smaller package. This makes them ideal for decoupling and signal filtering, with low impedances and higher frequency responses.

Tantalum – Polymer Capacitors are widely used in digital or analog circuits for rectification, filtering or timing applications. Due their small size and rugged properties, they are also used in military applications, and it’s not unusual to find them in automotive, aerospace and medical equipment as well.
