Working Principle:

SCRs are current-controlled devices and have three main terminals, namely the anode (A), the gate (G) and the cathode (C), allowing current to flow in only one direction, from the anode to the cathode. When the voltage level at the anode and the cathode of the SCR is a positive one, the SCR stays OFF and no current is passed. However, once the voltage at the gate is above the designated value (this is determined by the gate-trigger voltage, which is usually around 4-5V for the T727064874DN), an electric charge will be generated within the SCR, allowing the current to start flowing. By controlling the gate voltage, the level of electric charge generated by the SCR can be regulated allowing current to pass freely. Moreover, once the SCR is in the ON state, it will stay in the ON state even with no control, as long as the anode-cathode voltage is maintained. This is why SCRs are used in many industrial applications, such as electric welding and dimming systems.
