Application Field

Working Principle

TAP474K035FCS capacitors store energy in the form of electrostatic charge between the tantalum anode and the nickel-cobalt cathode. When an electric field is applied to the capacitor, the electrostatic charge is stored in the anode and the cathode becomes charged. This creates an equilibrium between the two electrodes, allowing the capacitor to store energy until it is discharged.

When the capacitor is discharged, the electric field between the electrodes is reversed and the stored energy is released. The current flows from the anode, through the capacitor and to the cathode. The rate of release of the stored energy is determined by the capacitance of the capacitor and the amount of charge stored on the two electrodes.
